There are two stunning Diwali Festivals happening on the same day this year The FNB Gauteng Diwali Festival in Gold Reef City and the Dabur Amla Diwali Festival in the Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown.

Dabur Amla Diwali Festival returns to Newtown this year and its the first time that South Africans of Indian origin and the Indian Expatriate Community will come together to host the biggest iconic Diwali Festival in Newtown.
Some of the highlights of the Festival set to take place on 19 October 2013 at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown are:
Bollywood singing sensation Gaurav Bangia, SAREGAMAPA’s multi-lingual winner. Look out for the Sari Idols as well as our Giant Rangoli painting (a decorative artwork on the square). Kids can look forward to stiltwalkers and balloon sculptors.
Join in on the fun in our Bollywood Flashmob sequence. Sample authentic Indian cuisine and sweets at our food stalls and browse through a colourful array of Indian garments, jewellery, handicrafts and finish off your look with henna painting. So its fun for the whole family!
Starting at 11am and culminating in a spectacular 18-minute firework display just before 9pm, the Festival promises a day of non-stop fun, culture and entertainment.
